New World: Aeternum Support
Last Updated: October 18, 2024
Purchasing
We're currently investigating an issue preventing some players on Xbox from purchasing or launching the game.
We're working on a fix and we'll update you as soon as it's available.
Social
Some players may experience issues using social features, such as chatting, adding friends, trading, and inviting other players to a party.
To resolve this issue, please relaunch the game.
Rewards
The ability to open Mutator Carry Bonus Cache has been temporarily disabled due to an issue in which it would not award coin.
Sometimes when completing a mutated expedition below the maximum available level, it will provide a "carry bonus" cache that is empty and contains no loot.
Errors
Previously applied settings on PC will be reset following the first log-in after updating to New World: Aeternum.
Players may encounter an error message stating "Platform Authentication failure. Please try again later. (Status -321)" when attempting to connect to the game.
Attempting to reconnect should resolve this.
When receiving a cross-region platform invite while in-game, players may encounter an "Error occurred while attempting to accept the invitation" message, preventing them from joining the inviter's group.
Graphics & Performance
Glowing effects on equipment, armor, and mount skins are not functional after the 11/5 patch. We are actively working on a fix for this issue.
If you're encountering issues when using DX12 Beta Preview, please make sure that your graphics card driver is up to date. When reporting issues related to DX12, please specify the graphics card that you are using, and the driver that is currently installed.
Equipment
There is an issue with upgrading Artifacts to gear score 725 and have temporarily disabled these crafting recipes.
Any players who have crafted these upgrades while they were available will have their materials fully reimbursed automatically in the coming days.
Some players may experience issues with accessing the Transmog menu.
To resolve this issue, please relaunch the game.
There is an issue where certain jewelry items intended to be "Bind on Equip" are incorrectly binding upon being picked up.
We appreciate your patience, and will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available regarding a resolution.
Audio
Players on Xbox may encounter VOIP being non-functional unless you toggle between a different VOIP mode.
Try switching VOIP from World Chat to Group Chat or vice versa, then try again.
Some players may experience a robotic sound quality when using voice chat.
The "Speaker" and "Microphone" options under the Social Settings tab on PC are currently not functional.
Some players may encounter a hang or freeze during the early quest when Isabella whispers to the player character. This issue is related to having HDR (High Dynamic Range) enabled during gameplay.
As a temporary workaround, we recommend disabling the HDR setting to prevent this hang and allow you to continue playing the game.
Our team is actively investigating a permanent fix for this HDR-related issue.
PvP
The scoreboard may not show all players who participated in the war.
Players may receive a second, non-functional chest after participating in Outpost Rush.
The 3v3 scoreboard is blank at the end of matches for console players.
Players may sometimes be unable to interact with the war board on the map while in settlements or at war forts or camps.
There is not announcement made when an Influence Tower has been captured.
The circle still properly fills as the tower is being captured.
UI
Lighting and Shadows may change in the background after exiting dialogue.
Returning from instanced content while inside a house doesn't load the HUD.
Exit and re-enter the house if this occurs.
Some UI screens and flows break the Target Lock.
Hovering over player icons sometimes does not display the player's Company.
Accepting a raid invite after a raid is filled with 20 players doesn't provide an unable to join message.
On PC the character creation flow and recommended server screen always shows Online Friends data as zero.
Players may encounter an issue where all nameplates, including those for AI enemies, disappear after adjusting the "Player Nameplate Amount" setting in the game options.
To restore the missing nameplates, return to the main menu or fully exit and relaunch the game.
Players may see a loading screen appear before both in-game cinematics during the Medea Soul Trial.
Players may experience camera shaking issues when hovering between quests on any of the faction boards.
A chapter of lore pages from the Tales of Aeternum collection appear blank when read and cannot be accessed through the Journal Documents section.
When having 6 quests pinned and entering an area with an event quest, the 7th pinned quest icon becomes a blank square on the HUD and compass.
When targeting enemy AI in the open world, the quest pins for side quests occasionally become blank or disappear from the HUD.
Auto-Pin sometimes fails to add newly accepted side quests to the Objectives HUD, even when they are pinned in the journal.
To fix, unpin and re-pin the quests in the journal to refresh them on the HUD display.
Auto-Pin does not automatically pin new Town Project quests to the HUD.
Auto-pin does not keep faction PvP missions pinned when players respawn.
Resetting a quest via the in-game Journal or menu interfaces causes that quest to become unpinned from the Objectives HUD display.
When players have an extensive list of pinned quest objectives that causes the Objectives HUD to go beyond the screen's edge, opening the navigation bar makes the entire quest tracker UI disappear.
This can be fixed by pinning/unpinning quests, but the issue reoccurs if the objective list remains too long upon reopening the nav bar.
Sometimes a player's camera jitters or shakes when starting, canceling, or claiming faction missions from a faction representative alchemist.
Text warning that "Characters created with Cross-Platform Play enabled will be unavailable if it is turned off" is misplaced, appearing in the "Cross-Platform Communications" section rather than the "Enable Cross-Platform Play" section in the game settings.
Opening the store from a Stylemancer does not hide the interact prompt.
Players may occasionally experience an indefinite loading spinner when trying to select a world after completing character creation.
This can be resolved by backing out of the world selection menu and trying again.
When two players attempt to join each other's game phase, a confirmation window may not clearly indicate to the second player that they have already been transferred to the first player's shard.
This can result in the second player loading into a state where they cannot see NPCs, AI, or other players, until they relog or fully disassociate from the phase. This can be done by moving far away from the current location and then returning.
Players opening the season activity card for the first time may encounter blank activities, preventing them from using any accumulated wild stamps on the board.
Rerolling the season board resolves this issue.
Caches granted through the store lack a preview description and redemption toast notification.
Reporting a player and then immediately interacting with an NPC or War Board, may cause a soft-lock where their HUD remains visible during dialogue, and most inputs are blocked except for camera movement and accessing menus.
To resolve this, try to re-login.
New players may receive toast notifications for in-game events that they do not yet have access to.
The circular health bar indicators for OPR structures like gates and protection wards can sometimes display incorrect values, showing as fully undamaged when the structures have already taken some damage.
If the chat window is open before a musical performance, it remains stuck on-screen until the performance ends. Ready state indicators for participating players may display incorrectly during performances.
When editing a custom profile in the Settings > Controller tab, players may not be able to change the shift modifiers for input actions. Rapidly clicking the dropdown menus causes a brief visual distortion on screen.
Bubble chat messages from the global chat window sometimes get stuck permanently displayed in the middle of the screen.
This issue persists even after changing characters, only temporarily clearing during cinematics before reappearing.
If Daichi Saito retreats during his boss fight, players cannot restart the encounter or leave the Soul Trial area. The leave UI option is missing so fully close the game client and restart to fix.
The "Can Equip" filter on the Trading Post is incorrectly excluding some items that should be equippable based on the player's current level, occurring across all gear types regardless of rarity or gear score.
You may have to be several levels above an item's requirement before it properly shows in the filtered results.
PlayStation
Keyboard and Mouse are only working one at a time.
We are working on a fix for this issue.
Xbox
Some Xbox players are facing issues with using the chat/social features in the game.
If you have multiple Xbox accounts logged in on the same console, logging out of the other Xbox accounts may resolve the issue.
Some players on Xbox may experience an issue with an infinite loading wheel when attempting to purchase Marks of Fortune through the in-game store.
To resolve this issue, please purchase Marks of Fortune through the Xbox Store instead.
Some players on Xbox may encounter a black screen after loading the game after utilizing the suspend game feature.
Attempts to make house payments from the map will fail occasionally.
Xbox platform friends will sometimes show code for their name in the Social List.
Scrolling through the chat window while the map is open sometimes also scrolls or pans the map.
Expeditions
After completing and exiting an expedition, players occasionally experience an issue where the positions of all influence towers are greatly shifted on the map.
If the last player alive during the Heru boss fight has no Death's Door charges left, it will cause a wipe for the entire party.
Quests
Some players are unable to start or complete their faction's rank up quest, such as "Covenant Advancement: Templar", "Syndicate Advancement: Scrivener" or "Marauder Advancement: Gladiator"
Players should log out and log back in to resolve the issue.
"Beyond the Gates" can be blocked due to a missing NPC.
We are working on a fix for this issue.
Returning players on PC may be missing the Azoth Staff.
Continue the main story quest progression to the point where the Azoth Staff is granted again.
When the "Raise Alarm" quest is ready for turn in, sometimes it is not clearly indicated where to go next.
Try going back to Watchtower and approach the quest pin by running along the path from that direction.
During the "The Path of Thorns" fight against Medea, the interact gem sometimes fails to properly stun her as intended.
For the "A Living Conduit" quest, players may experience an issue where the quest pin does not update properly when reaching Yonas’ location.
The "Orbs of Power" quest only rewards 1 experience point upon completion, instead of the intended amount.
It is possible that Jacquet Davy cannot be rescued for the "Beyond the Gates" main story quest.
To fix, go and speak to Jacquet Davy at Outpost Warden's Rise instead.
Players are unable to complete the Tales of Mourningdale achievement due to too few lore notes being present in the Mourningdale zone.
Players may get soft locked following the turn-in dialogue for the "Stirring in the Sands" quest.
The NPC Edwin Kasper is missing from the open world, making him unable to be interacted with. As a result, you cannot access the repeatable "Spectral Artifacts" side quest that is normally obtained from him.
For the "On the Wizard's Trail" quest, the objective to "Enter the Broceliande Cave..." may not update when a player enters that point of interest area.
To fix this, move far away from the cave and return.
If you take damage from nearby enemies while viewing a 2.5D cinematic, it can cause the associated quest to fail progressing after the cinematic finishes or is skipped.
Players can acquire the "Containing the Contagion" daily expedition quest again from two instances of Glendyn Trahern after completing it once, but cannot complete it a second time.
There is an issue with the "To Stand Against the Dark" quest where the wave encounter event dismisses prematurely when entering the area, preventing the required enemies from being killed.
The quest may eventually progress after waiting.
When completing quests that award higher tiers of the Azoth Staff, the new staff does not automatically equip.
Players starting in Windsward must complete that territory's full quest chain before accessing Monarch's Bluffs' main storyline.
It is possible for returning PC players in the middle of the "A God Awakens" quest to be unable to complete that quest.
This is being fixed in an upcoming update.
During the "Assessing the Enemy" main story quest, if players skip the vignette conversation with Thorpe at Sunderfort by leaving the fort, it prevents the next quest step to meet Yonas from triggering, blocking further progression.
Resetting the quest will resolve this.
Some players cannot complete the "All Part of the Plan" questline as they are unable to locate NPC Ser Galahad.
We are actively working on a fix for this issue.
Companies
The siege window for Companies may get offset by an hour due to Daylight Savings Time.
Weapons & Abilities
The Azoth Shrapnel Blast passive "Discord" deals zero damage with the extra pellets.
Flail visual effects may be skewed when viewed by other players.
Players sometimes encounter a T-pose animation issue when sheathing or unsheathing the greatsword weapon after turning around 180 degrees.
Players may sometimes encounter stuttering issues with the flail weapon, where the second light attack in the auto-attack chain causes the animation to flip and stutter.
Players may encounter weapon and armor crafting recipes that still reference deprecated rare materials that are no longer obtainable in the game. For example, recipes may sometimes list ingredients like Barbvine despite it having been removed.
When using ally target lock for healing, if an ally moves slightly closer or runs in front of the line of sight, the healer will automatically switch targets to that ally instead of staying locked on the original target.
Gamepad
Steam's virtual keyboard will overlay the chat box when players attempt to communicate. This will also occur when using an Xbox or PS5 controller.
Steam input remappings may cause input registry issues after connecting an Xbox controller.
When using a gamepad, navigating the menus inside a player's owned house can accidentally open the decoration menu, preventing players from changing their character's skin or accessing emotes and augments.
When attempting to queue for a different PvP mode (3v3 or OPR) after leaving the queue for the other mode using the gamepad button, players may incorrectly join the queue for the previously left mode instead of the intended new mode. Using the virtual cursor to join the new queue resolves this issue.
Character
Your character will not be teleported to the nearest shrine when removed from an over-populated Faction Control Point.
When logging in for the first time after the update, some characters' faces may be different. It is not possible to revert or change character appearances at this time.
VFX & SFX
Players may experience missing lip sync and facial animations for the NPC Samira Katari during the "From the Ashes of Caer Dun" quest, despite her voice over lines playing correctly.
On consoles, players may occasionally see global lighting improperly rendered in closed environments like caves when the Video Mode setting is set to Performance.
Players may experience flickering textures that cause blurriness during the introductory in-game cinematic for the Oxboro settlement in Everfall.
Various characters and scenarios in the game sometimes have voice over audio missing or not playing properly.
The NPC Han Fang is missing textures on his gloves in the Inishglory camp area in and out of dialogue.
The NPC Han Liu has a white placeholder texture appearing on one of his hands in the Spriggan Swamp area.
During the "Walking Wyrds" mission in EdenGrove, several NPCs including Agnes Cubert, Cultist Ylva, and Han Liu sometimes have white untextured hands.
During the "The Gates of Great Cleave" quest, Yonas may not animate.
During the "Sole Survivor" beach introductory in-game cinematic, Aelstrom's full NPC model is incorrectly visible instead of just his cinematic character model.
During the introductory in-game cinematic for the "Talk of the Town" quest that shows Everfall, assets pop in and out and camera stuttering occurs on both low and high graphics settings.
The flags reused across multiple areas in the Ebonscale Reach appear discolored or show negative colors when HDR is enabled.
When applying an elemental gem to the Goldcursed Great Axe skin, one side of the visual effects becomes misaligned and floats off the weapon model instead of outlining it properly.
The Mountain Red Shield skin from the Aeternum Trials is missing its red coloring.
When using the German voice-over localization, Nessa Harrower's lip syncing does not work properly during conversations, with no lip movement occurring.
Gameplay
The basic ranged attacks from Skeleton Mage enemies sometimes fail to register hits on the player despite the projectiles visually making contact.
Multiple hemp nodes can be gathered at an individual node in Windsward area.
It is possible for the Iron Rose Garrison area to have longer enemy respawn rates.
The "Houses for All My Stuff" platform achievement may not unlock until the player opens the in-game achievement window, even after meeting the requirement of owning 3 houses. Additionally, the achievement progress may not display correctly on the player's profile until the achievement window is viewed.
In the Hornhold Labyrinth area, players can fall through a specific boulder that is missing collision detection, allowing them to pass through it.
The Ifrit boss's Flamevent projectile attack deals extremely high damage in the regular story mode difficulty, as it is not properly scaling based on mutation level.
Accessibility
Speech-to-text has a known bug for cross-platform or Xbox to Xbox.
This fix is underway and will be resolved in the next release.
