Troubleshooting Game Launching and Crashing Issues
Try the steps below if you experience game launching or crashing issues.

Game Launching Issues

  1. Check the THRONE AND LIBERTY Known Issues page.

  2. Update your Windows install.

  3. Update drivers for your computer.

  4. Verify the integrity of game files.

  5. Disable non-essential software.

  6. Check the game's system requirements.

  2. Restart the game.

  3. Power cycle your console.

  4. Test your network connection.

  5. Try using a different profile.

  6. Remove and re-add your profile.

  7. Clear the local save and resync with the Cloud.

  2. Restart your PS5 console by pressing the PS button and selecting Power > Restart PS5.

  3. Restore your licenses.

  4. Delete the game and re-download it. If possible, try using a wired connection.

  5. Check that your PS5 console has the latest system software installed.

  6. Clear Cache and Rebuild Database using Safe Mode.

  7. Back up your data and reinstall the system software using Safe Mode.

Game Crashing Issues

General Crashes Troubleshooting

  2. Update your Windows install.

  3. Update drivers for your computer.

  4. Verify the integrity of game files.

  5. Disable non-essential software.

  6. Check the game's system requirements.

NVIDIA Crashes

Try the below steps for crashes that state video memory is full or shader memory is full while using an NVIDIA RTX 4090, 4080, 3090, or 3080 GPU during "shader optimization."


  1. Turn off other processes consuming GPU powers.

  2. Revert back to an older GPU driver such as GeForce 556.12.

  3. Update the BIOS (especially for Intel 13th and 14th Gen CPUs.)

  4. Go to Library > THRONE AND LIBERTY > Properties > Add -neveropenpso in the Launch Options.

  5. Try switching off in-game overlays such as:

    • Riva tuner

    • EOS overlay

    • GeForce Experience in-game overlays

  6. Clean reinstall the game and set the Graphics Quality to "Medium" or "High" rather than "Epic."

  7. Set each individual graphics settings to "Epic" except "volumetric Clouds" which should remain at "High."

UE4-TL Crashes

Try the below steps for any UE4-TL crashes, including UE4-TL-1.126.21.1477 and similar variants.


  1. Verify that you have the latest Windows update.

  2. Run the game as an administrator.

    • Locate the executable (.exe) file in the game folder, right click on it, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, then check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator."

  3. Force run the game in DirectX 11 by adding "-dx11" to the Steam app "Launch Options" text box.

    • Go to your Steam library, right click on the game, click Properties, click General, and add "-dx11" in that text box.

  4. Disable XMP in your BIOS.

  5. Turn off any CPU or GPU overclocking.

  6. Lower your graphics settings.

  2. Restart the game.

  3. Power cycle your console.

  4. Test your network connection.

  5. Try using a different profile.

  6. Remove and re-add your profile.

  7. Clear the local save and resync with the Cloud.

  1. Check the THRONE AND LIBERTY Known Issues and PSN Status pages.

  2. Check the game has fully downloaded and installed. Highlight the game you want to check and press the Options button > Information > Download Status.

  3. Check the game is updated to the latest version. Highlight the game you want to check, press the Options button and then select Check for Update.

  4. Make sure your system software is the latest version.

  5. Play the game from the beginning, without an existing game save, to check if the game save is corrupted.

  6. Delete the game from your console. Download and reinstall the game.

  7. Back up your game data and then reset your console. Resetting your console erases all data saved on your console storage.
